Independent Living

Located on a 32-acre tree-lined campus featuring many historic Spanish Revival buildings and variegated landscaping, Pilgrim Place is centrally located in the center of Claremont, California. Residents entering the community may select one of our private, distinctively individual independent residential homes, ranging in size from 600 square feet to 1,800 square feet – all uniquely designed to create an integrated neighborhood.

Applicants are eligible to move to Pilgrim Place after their 60th birthday. (If a couple is making an application, one of them must be at least 60 years old.) Applicants submit a personal statement that describes the causes in which they have been engaged either through work or volunteer life. Pilgrim Place is open to all such qualified persons regardless of gender, religion, race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation.

Persons who desire to be active contributors in a reflective, vibrant community * Persons who exemplify genuine care for others * Persons who have demonstrated a sustained commitment of service to others through a local or global cause * Persons who value living in a diverse and inclusive community * Persons age 60 plus * Persons who meet the financial requirements * Persons who meet the State of California medical review to live independently.
